Workers Badge/ Bridge Blockchain Credentials is a cutting-edge cross-chain messaging protocol designed to facilitate seamless, secure, and efficient NFTs transfer across various blockchain networks. As a gateway for interoperability, WB3C empowers holders of skills and job verifiable credentials to extend the sharing of ownership of NFTs and verified identity beyond the constraints of single blockchain/DLT and allows Verifier to choose the desired ledger for proof verification of events, such as attendance courses, esams, job, benefits.
Can you briefly present your team?
MEDITERRANEO LAB 4.0 is an Italian SME specialized in digital transformation, blockchain, and AI-based solutions for HR, education, and public administration. Our multidisciplinary team combines expertise in technologies, European policies, technical standards, software engineering and human resources innovation. We have a strong background in developing decentralized applications, credentialing systems, and data interoperability tools that bridge blockchain and real-world applications and services.
How did you come up with this project idea and what benefits will it bring to the end users?
The idea for Workers Badge / Bridge Blockchain Credentials (WB3C) emerged from the growing need for transparency and verifiability in job markets. We observed that workers and employers both struggle with trust, time, and authenticity in hiring processes.
Our solution turns skills and work experiences into verifiable digital credentials (NFTs), stored securely on blockchain and interoperable across multiple chains like Algorand, Ethereum, and Polygon.
For job seekers, this means a trusted, portable, privacy-preserving “digital passport of skills.
For employers, it shortens hiring cycles, reduces fraud, and improves trust in candidate data.
How is TrustChain supporting your growth and what role does it play for the next steps in your development?
TrustChain has provided us not only financial support but also technical and strategic validation within an EU-wide ecosystem focused on Next Generation Internet (NGI) principles—privacy, trust, and decentralization.
Through TrustChain, we gained access to mentoring, visibility, and synergies with other blockchain innovators. The project allowed us to move from concept (WB3C architecture) to a working cross-chain credential verification dashboard integrated with smart contracts, APIs, and cloud security systems. TrustChain is now the foundation for scaling WB3C toward integration with EU Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallets and SSI-aligned platforms.
Why did you apply to the TrustChain call and has your vision changed since then?
We applied to TrustChain OC4 to validate our vision of a fairer and more transparent job market using blockchain and Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI).
At the start, our focus was primarily on job digital credential verification. Over time, our vision evolved toward cross-chain interoperability and data monetization — allowing users to control and even earn from their verified credentials.
Now, our mission is broader: to create a trusted digital labor ecosystem where skills are verifiable, shareable, and valuable across platforms, enhancing privacy for users.
What is the most valuable takeout from the TrustChain project and why was the topic of the Open Call important to you/your team?
The most valuable takeaway for our team from the TrustChain initiative is the concrete understanding of how cross-chain interoperability, combined with privacy-by-design, trustworthiness-by-design, scalability and legal compliance, can realistically be implemented in a next-generation internet context.
In particular, the OC4 topic — “Multi-chains support for NGI protocols” — was of strategic importance to us because it precisely addressed the challenge we are tackling: enabling seamless and secure transfer of knowledge, metadata, data, processes and requirements across different distributed ledger system. By participating under the OC4 topic, our team sharpened our solution’s orientation: not just verifying credentials on one chain, but creating a cross-chain credential ecosystem that respects identity, privacy, interoperability and regulatory compliance. That has elevated our architectural thinking and strengthened our positioning in the NGI/TrustChain landscape.
Did you establish collaboration with any of the TrustChain teams or plan for any kind of synergies? If yes, what is the biggest potential in such collaborations?
Yes. We would discussing synergies with projects such as:
- SSItizen for decentralized identity integration;
- DID4EU for alignment with European identity standards;
- GUEDHS for e-health cross chain credentials of aggregate datasets
- Checks for e-commerce and verified employment services.
These collaborations aim to build a shared software ecosystem for verifiable credentials, data trust, and cross-sector interoperability.
What are your expectations regarding the TrustChain software ecosystem and its contribution to the NGI priority areas?
We expect the TrustChain ecosystem to become a reference framework for trustworthy Web3 applications, combining DLTs, privacy-preserving technologies, and digital identity standards. For WB3C, it offers an opportunity to ensure interoperability with other TrustChain solutions and adopt open-source standards for data exchange and credential verification, cross chain.
This directly supports NGI priorities such as trust, privacy, and data sovereignty, while paving the way for an open, human-centric digital economy.
What are the next steps for your team?
Our next steps include:
- Finalizing cross-chain deployment on further DLTs;
- Integrating reward tokenomics by crypto to incentivize user participation;
- Aligning WB3C with the EUDI Wallet and EU AI Act frameworks;
- Expanding pilots with HR platforms, universities, and training institutions;
- Preparing for commercial rollout and scaling through partnerships with European job and credentialing networks.
What is the message you would give to new and potential applicants to TrustChain Open Calls?
Join TrustChain not only for funding, but to become part of a real innovation community.
It’s a unique environment where technical, ethical, and business mentorship converge to build privacy-respecting digital ecosystems.
If your idea promotes trust, transparency, and user empowerment, TrustChain provides the tools and partnerships to make it real — from prototype to product.
