CreatorCredentials will develop a user-centric digital identity management framework specifically designed for the cultural and creative communities. This includes a software application that can be used by media organisations to issue verifiable credentials to creators and other rightsholders. CreatorCredentials will increase the trustworthiness of declarations and claims to digital media content online.
Can you briefly present your team?
Sabine Richly (MBA) is a lawyer with a focus on media and copyright law, particularly in the context of EU regulations. Dr. Alen Horvat is an IT solutions architect with a focus on blockchain, SSI, and cryptography. Sebastian Posth is an entrepreneur and consultant in the cultural and creative industries.
How did you come up with this project idea and what benefits will it bring to the end users?
The Creator Credentials project aims to address key issues in the digital media landscape. By introducing verifiable credentials in the media industry we try to tackle the lack of trust and attribution of content shared online.
How is TrustChain supporting your growth and what role does it play for the next steps in your development?
With the help of the Trustchain, we can build a user-friendly platform that can be used by creators and rightsholders to obtain verifiable credentials that can be used to properly authorise declarations and claims to digital media content on the Internet.
Why did you apply to the TrustChain call and has your vision changed since then?
The Trustchain grant serves as start-up funding for the actual development of the platform – from the idea to its realisation.
What is the most valuable takeout from the TrustChain project and why was the topic of the Open Call important to you/your team?
The work on the Creator Credentials project proved that a new technology with hardly any adoption in the real world can find a well-needed application in the media sector.
Did you establish collaboration with any of the TrustChain teams or plan for any kind of synergies? If yes, what is the biggest potential in such collaborations?
We hope to align with other Trustchain projects in the context of the development of legal terms and conditions. Also, we would like to see other projects adopting our user application frontend.
What are your expectations regarding the TrustChain software ecosystem and its contribution to the NGI priority areas?
I would like to see Trustchain create a platform for tools related to digital identity and trust that can be used by other projects to accelerate project development in all relevant aspects
What are the next steps for your team?
The next steps for our team is to establish the Creator Credentials and make them a standard for authentication and attribution in the cultural and creative sectors.
What is the message you would give to new and potential applicants to TrustChain Open Calls?
Try to build applications that are based on real-world use cases and can be used by ordinary users with no technical knowledge who do not know what identity providers, wallets, certificates or verifiable credentials are.
