By enabling individuals to monetize their health and fitness data directly, FitChain disrupts traditional data monetization models, redirecting economic benefits back to the data creators themselves.   • Motivation for the project: FitChain is poised to significantly enhance the TrustChain established impact and the broader NGI Ecosystem by introducing a novel, blockchain-based platform for managing, sharing, and monetizing personal health and fitness data. By prioritizing data sovereignty, user privacy, and equitable economic models, FitChain embodies the core principles of TrustChain, offering a practical solution that strengthens trust, transparency, and user empowerment within the digital space.
  • Generic use case description: FitChain will integrate through RUN24/7 portal with popular fitness apps (Garmin, Runkeeper etc.) via an API gateway, extending the data ecosystem. Users of these platforms will opt-in to share their data with FitChain, benefiting from the broader data monetization and analysis features. Smart contracts ensure that data sharing respects user privacy and consent.

    Smart contracts automate the enforcement of data sharing agreements, ensuring that data transactions between users and data consumers adhere to predefined terms.

    A unique encryption key for each user guarantees that data can only be accessed by authorized parties.

    The monetization aspect is managed through a tokenization engine, which issues digital tokens as a medium of exchange within the ecosystem. Users earn tokens by sharing their data, which can be redeemed for services or converted into fiat currency.

    To facilitate interoperability with external fitness platforms FitChain features a robust API gateway. This gateway provides standardized endpoints for data sharing and retrieval, allowing external platforms to securely access and contribute to the FitChain ecosystem under user-consented agreements.

The transaction would be securely processed via FitChain's smart contracts, with the researcher receiving access to the data and the user earning cryptocurrency, all showcased in real-time on the platform.

Product Manager

Panos PAPADATOS, (male), holds a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineer and a master’s in business administration. He also holds a Diploma in «Sales Management» from Hellenic Management Association and Great Britain’s’ Institution of Sales Management – global representative body for sales executives. He has over ten years of experience in sales management and commercial exploitation of Blockchain and AI solutions including industrial applications.

Christos PANAGIOTOU, (male), received his diploma in Computer Engineering from Dept. of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras, Greece. His research interests include blockchain technologies, energy efficient wireless communications, wireless sensor networks, internet of things and cloud services. He has strong technical skill on developing web based distributed applications using cutting edge technologies that encompasses the best practices for software system design and development.
