QX Chain

QX Chain is a scalable, energy-efficient blockchain solution designed specifically for European smart cities and enterprises, utilising a Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) consensus mechanism. Built on Polkadot’s architecture for enhanced scalability and interoperability, and integrated with Alastria for robust identity management and GDPR/eIDAS compliance, QX Chain addresses key challenges of energy efficiency, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration into existing infrastructures. By employing a user-centric co-creation methodology, the project closely engages with European stakeholders, including global brands and municipal partners, ensuring practical alignment with real-world needs. QX Chain’s modular design and open APIs provide a robust yet flexible blockchain infrastructure that enterprises and municipalities can easily adopt and adapt. The project’s primary goal is the delivery of a validated Minimum Viable Product (MVP) demonstrating core blockchain functionalities, such as privacy preserving data management, sustainable tokenisation models, and compliant digital identity solutions. By significantly reducing energy consumption compared to traditional blockchains, QX Chain actively contributes to Europe’s green and digital transition objectives. Ultimately, QX Chain aims to serve as a trusted foundation for decentralised applications across industries, driving sustainable digital transformation while fostering greater transparency, trust, and operational efficiency within Europe’s innovation landscape.
- Motivation for the project: Current blockchains are energy - intensive and lack interoperability with European standards. QX Chain addresses these gaps with a scalable, compliant, energy-efficient NPoS blockchain tailored for smart cities and enterprises within the TrustChain software ecosystem.
- Generic use case description: A European smart city issues tokens via QX Chain’s NPoS blockchain to reward citizens for sustainable actions, while seamlessly ensuring GDPR/eIDAS compliance and interoperability with existing city infrastructure through modular APIs.
- Essential functionalities: Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) consensus ensuring low energy use, GDPR/eIDAS-compliant digital identity management via Alastria, and modular APIs for seamless interoperability, enabling scalable and sustainable blockchain adoption for smart cities and enterprise brands across Europe.
- How these functionalities can be integrated within the software ecosystem: QX Chain provides modular, open APIs enabling seamless integration into existing TrustChain software ecosystem layers. It ensures full compatibility with Polkadot-based scalability and Alastria- compliant identity solutions for simplified, interoperable deployment by enterprises and smart cities.
- Gap being addressed: Existing blockchains consume excessive energy, lack seamless interoperability, and struggle to comply with GDPR and eIDAS standards. QX Chain directly closes these gaps with an energy-efficient, compliant, and interoperable blockchain tailored specifically for European smart cities and enterprises.
- Expected benefits achieved with the novel technology building blocks: QX Chain significantly reduces blockchain energy consumption, simplifies GDPR and eIDAS compliance, enhances interoperability with existing infrastructure, and accelerates sustainable digital transformation for European smart cities and enterprises within the TrustChain ecosystem.
- Potential demonstration scenario: A European smart city implements QX Chain to issue sustainability reward tokens to citizens, validating compliance (GDPR/eIDAS), interoperability with city infrastructure, and energy efficiency. Real-time outcomes will be assessed through stakeholder feedback and measurable KPIs.
