Webinar on Standards for a Trustworthy Digital Ecosystem: Exploring the TRUSTCHAIN Protocol Suite

Trustchain hosted its webinar, Standards for a Trustworthy Digital Ecosystem: Exploring the TRUSTCHAIN Protocol Suite, on December 10, 2025. The session was led by Dr. Vlado Stankovski from the University of Ljubljana, who serves as the Scientific and Technical Coordinator of Trustchain. He explored how a decentralized, pan-European protocol suite is being built to empower citizens and ensure seamless cross-border interoperability.

The webinar unpacked the Trustchain Service Catalogue, which rests on three key pillars:

  • Interoperability: Establishing a common technical framework for decentralized data exchange.
  • Trust Services: Using cryptographic proofs and AI to verify identities while protecting privacy.
  • Regulatory Alignment: Ensuring full compliance with eIDAS 2 and European data space governance.

Bridging the Standards Gap

While existing standards like DID (Decentralized Identifiers) and Verifiable Credentials 2.0 are central, Dr. Stankovski identified critical gaps being addressed:

  • Wallet Interoperability: Moving toward a seamless experience regardless of the specific software provider.
  • Real-time Trust Scoring: Developing dynamic reputation models for decentralized environments.
  • Sustainability: Creating Green DLT frameworks to monitor and reduce environmental footprints.

Looking Ahead: The February Final Event

A major highlight of the webinar was the announcement of the upcoming physical event in February 2026. This final gathering will serve as a high-level forum to showcase how various projects under the Trustchain umbrella are addressing critical European and global societal challenges. The event aims to ensure long-term sustainability by discussing ways to foster actual applications of project results across diverse domains, while also inviting participants to continue partnering under the Trustchain brand to drive the next wave of human-centered digital services.
