Held online from 17 to 25 November 2025, the TrustChain Hackathon attracted applications from 19 innovative teams from across the continent including Greece, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, Ireland, and Ukraine to tackle the most pressing challenges of the Next Generation Internet (NGI).
The hackathon challenged developers and researchers to integrate existing TrustChain-funded technologies. The goal was simple yet ambitious: to bridge the gaps between digital identity, data privacy, and sustainability to create practical, “quick-to-adopt” solutions for European citizens.
Innovation Across Two Tracks
The competition was divided into two distinct categories: an Internal Track for existing TrustChain teams and an External Track for new applicants. After a week of intensive development, two projects emerged as winners, showcasing the diverse applications of decentralized technology.
Internal Track Winner: QX Trust TourismGPT (Poland)
The winner of the Internal Track, Team QX from Poland, addressed the growing intersection of Artificial Intelligence and public trust.
QX Trust TourismGPT is an on-chain AI model framework designed specifically for cities and public institutions. Unlike traditional “black-box” AI, this model is owned by the city and remains transparently auditable by the public. By leveraging blockchain technology, the project ensures that the data and logic used by public institutions are verifiable, fostering a new level of trust between local governments and their citizens.
External Track Winner: FreeBonde AB (Sweden)
Winning the External Track, the Swedish startup FreeBonde AB demonstrated how blockchain can solve real-world sustainability issues through their urban agritech solution.
FreeBonde is revolutionizing urban agriculture by transforming homes into intelligent micro-farms. Using proprietary AI-powered hydroponic and aeroponic systems, they enable users to grow pesticide-free produce with 95% less water than traditional farming. By integrating blockchain and Real World Asset (RWA) technology, the project ensures data integrity and creates a decentralized approach to food security and smart home automation.
A Foundation for the Next Generation Internet
The success of these projects underscores the transformative potential of the TrustChain ecosystem. By combining Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) tools, privacy-preserving data systems, and sustainable DLTs, these winners are helping build a decentralized service platform that prioritizes human needs over corporate data harvesting.
