Tenclave aims to build a modular open-source trusted enclave capable of applying programmable cryptography techniques—such as Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs) and Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE)—to multiple data sources without exposing raw data. Centered on energy efficiency, the project will deliver two reference implementations in a real-world Local Energy Community (LEC) living lab in Peón, Spain
Can you briefly present your team?
We are researchers in CTIC, a spanish technological center based in Gijón with a delegation in the rural area of Peón, Asturias.
How did you come up with this project idea and what benefits will it bring to the end users?
In our installations we have a living lab and also an energy community, checking the data over the system and after talking to the neighbors we saw an opportunity to enhance the lives of the people applying state-of-the-art emerging technologies in decentralized ecosystems.
How is TrustChain supporting your growth and what role does it play for the next steps in your development?
Funding solutions as TENCLAVE helps not only our team to continue enhancing the technologies and moving forward in the knowledge but also lets us to learn with other colleagues and helps to continue bringing tools to improve the lives of the people.
Why did you apply to the TrustChain call and has your vision changed since then?
Some of the technologies applied to this project, as we expected to be less mature and incapable to be handled in real scenarios, but the development moves very fast and was a comfortable surprise see how good and smooth was able the prototype to reach our expectations and beyond.
What is the most valuable takeout from the TrustChain project and why was the topic of the Open Call important to you/your team?
As a team in a technological center with focus on help people in rural areas, the topic of the Open Call fits our values perfectly to develop solutions that enhance the living conditions while helping in the ecosystem preservation and reduction of fuel emissions.
Did you establish collaboration with any of the TrustChain teams or plan for any kind of synergies? If yes, what is the biggest potential in such collaborations?
Not for this project but we found very interesting projects along the calls and we hope to collaborate in the future with the teams around TrustChain.
What are your expectations regarding the TrustChain software ecosystem and its contribution to the NGI priority areas?
Adding decentralized solutions inside the sovereignty of Europe gives the territory extra tools for growth and development without depending on outside technologies with resilient results, helping the people to keep the privacy and enhancing the lives of everyone.
What are the next steps for your team?
Continue developing TENCLAVE and its modularity to be flexible and adjust over several kinds of projects. Also, working in other projects where this tool can be useful and help to spread the use in the open communities.
What is the message you would give to new and potential applicants to TrustChain Open Calls?
TrustChain Open Calls are a chance to turn strong ideas into funded, tested solutions with real users, not just white papers or demos, so use real end‑user needs as your compass and your imagination to bring solutions and help the world be a better place.
